CHR will hold its annual membership meeting on Saturday, April 18 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon in the Center 4 Life building at 2401 Library Way. Members of CHR’s board and staff will give a presentation about CHR’s activities over the past year, highlighting successes and giving a vision for meeting future affordable housing needs on Sanibel.
For over 36 years, CHR has been providing affordable housing on Sanibel for full-time island workers and for retired or disabled long-time residents of Sanibel. CHR residents live in modern studio, one-, two-, or three-bedroom units that CHR maintains, totaling 74 properties in 11 locations across Sanibel. Over the past year, CHR has been able to strengthen its administration of Sanibel’s affordable housing program, improving facilities while preparing for future growth as the island’s housing needs continue to evolve.
“Annual meetings are probably misnamed,” said CHR executive director Kelly Collini. “I like to think of them more as ‘annual updates.’ It’s a chance for our residents and for the public to hear about what CHR has been up to over the past year and about what’s next. Plus, islanders get to meet CHR residents and vice versa, which is part of creating the sense of community that CHR stands for.”
The business portion of the meeting will be followed by a community potluck luncheon. The public is invited to attend this event. RSVP to CHR by calling 239-472-1189.
