Community Housing and Resources, Inc. (CHR) is utilizing grant funding to install all new hurricane-resistant front doors and back sliding doors on four units at their Lake Palms property on Wooster Lane. This new iniative is made possible thanks to $22,070 in funding received through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The CDBG program is a flexible program that provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs, including decent affordable housing.

“Living coastally, our properties are obviously very vulnerable to the elements during hurricane season,” says CHR Executive Director, Kelly Collini. “We are very pleased to receive this grant funding to install the hurricane-rated front and back doors on these four households. Ensuring that our residents, as well as their belongings, are safe and secure is a top priority and grants like these are invaluable in helping us do that.”

The installation of the eight new doors should be completed by this Fall.
