For guys like Tony Lapi and Doug Babcock of Sanibel-Captiva Beach Resorts, some might think every day is a “day at the beach.” But in their case, it just might be. The resort management company has pledged their sponsorship support of Community Housing and Resources (CHR) 5th Annual Mardi Gras event, scheduled for February 11th at The Dunes. They are also bringing their laid back, beach resort-style attitude to the famed Mardi Gras swim relay as the third and final Purple Team.
“Sanibel-Captiva Beach Resorts is proud to be a Mardi Gras ‘Big Easy’ sponsor and we were excited to step up as competitors to the swim relay,” said Doug Babcock, Chief Operating Officer. “We are all superior athletes so we figured it would be a great part of the event to really get involved in — after all, the ‘Tween Waters Inn team is the only one that has an on-site pool and full fitness center to train in, a marina with watersports for cross-training, plus a day spa to soothe our aching muscles after a great workout before we eat a balanced meal at one of our outstanding restaurants. That didn’t sound too much like an ad, did it? Go Tweenies!”
Even with all of the amazing amenities at their fingertips, it is clear the Purple Team knows the value of staying relaxed as the battle for the trophy approaches. While the swim relay’s Gold and Green Teams might possibly be hard at work training in hopes of bringing home a victory, right now Tony, Doug and the other swimmers on the Purple Team are just enjoying a day at the beach.
