Bourbon Street. The heart and soul of New Orleans. Bourbon. The heart and soul of any Mardi Gras event! Luckily for Community Housing and Resources, locally-born American Barrels Bourbon has joined the party as the exclusive Bourbon Lounge sponsor of CHR’s 5th Annual Mardi Gras, coming up on February 11th at The Dunes.
American Barrels Bourbon was the brainchild of Fort Myers native Michael Reed, a pre-law student and starting hockey goalie at Florida Gulf Coast University. What Reed hopes is the next iconic liquor brand can now be found in several hundred locations throughout the U.S. as well as festivals and events all over the southeast. And CHR is thrilled to bring the brand to Sanibel.
In the American Barrels Bourbon Lounge at the Mardi Gras event, event guests will have the opportunity to cash in their “bourbon bucks” for tastes of this delicious liquid gold, while simultaneously providing an additional donation to CHR’s mission. “I think it’s a great thing that CHR is doing,” says American Barrels creator Michael Reed. “And a lot of it goes towards the great people in the service industry – and those people are my people. Plus what better way to show support and appreciation in a fun and meaningful way.” In addition to generously donating their product, representatives from American Barrels will be at the event manning the speakeasy to make drinks, provide tips on the best ways to enjoy bourbon, and join in the Mardi Gras fun.
Other Bourbon Street attractions at CHR’s Mardi Gras event will include a tarot card reader, live marching band performance, great raffle prizes and the island celebrity swim relay. Tickets are available at www.sanibelchr.org/mardigras.
