Community Housing and Resources (CHR) is saying a fond farewell to their Executive Director, Kelly Collini, after her successful five-year tenure at the helm of the organization. Collini joined CHR’s team in 2012 when she traded the mountains of Wyoming for the beaches of southwest Florida, bringing with her 27 years of experience in the nonprofit sector.
Collini gives a great deal of credit to her staff, board of directors, volunteers, and CHR’s residents, many of whom she has formed close relationships with. “It has been an absolute honor to work on behalf of the individuals and families that call CHR home,” says Collini. “I feel like we’ve done tremendous work over the past five years and this would not have been possible without all of the amazing people who work, volunteer, and live here.”
CHR had a long history on the island prior to Collini’s arrival, but she is proud of the activities and forward strides made under her leadership, such as working diligently with the board of directors on eliminating a significant deficit and growing the organization’s once depleted reserves. Other noteworthy accomplishments under her tutelage include getting the organization set up with a more sophisticated donor database, focusing on increased marketing and public relations activities in the community, and greatly increasing the buildings and grounds budget to accomplish larger maintenance projects on CHR’s 74 units. She also counts increasing the organization’s annual grant funding by nearly $80,000 during her time employed as one of her proudest endeavors.
As her husband is now embracing retirement, Collini plans to take some time off to travel before embarking on her next professional venture. “As I leave, I owe a debt of gratitude to so many,” Collini shares. “It has been so wonderful getting to know Sanibel and I will always have a special place in my heart for this island and the amazing people here.”
