Our Staff
Community Housing and Resources staff is guided by a knowledgeable and passionate volunteer board. Melissa, Dawn, Bonnie and Ken work together to engage partners, residents, homeowners, community leaders and housing professionals in the pursuit of creative solutions to Sanibel’s housing problem. When they aren’t in the office, they can be found actively engaging runners, bicyclists, boaters and unsuspecting tennis and pickleball players in the pursuit of creative solutions to Sanibel’s housing problem.

Melissa Rice
With a background in commercial real estate for over 20 years, Melissa brings a wealth of experience to the position of Executive Director for Community Housing and Resources. Taking the position in April of 2017 but having had the pleasure of serving on the CHR Board of Directors from April of 2012 as the Treasurer, she has an in-depth knowledge of the organization. Not to mention she is a loyal island resident.
In her spare time, Melissa enjoys biking with her husband, yoga, playing pickle ball and spending time with friends and family.

Bonnie McCurry

Bonnie McCurry
Bonnie McCurry has been a Sanibel resident since 2006. She joined Community Housing & Resources, Inc. in May of 2010 as the Bookkeeper and added the responsibilities of Office Manager in 2012.
Bonnie has always worked in some form of the financial field. As a Cash Office Manager and Trainer in several large retail establishments, a Bookkeeper and Office Manager in a small advertising company and a Bank Teller. Before moving to Florida, she owned and operated an Air Conditioning company in Ohio where she handled the financial portion of the business, the scheduling and coordinated all installations and service calls.
Bonnie lives on Sanibel with her husband Richard. Between the two of them they have 5 children and 2 grandchildren. They enjoy walks on the beach and spending time with family.
