“This manatee reflects the beauty of a garden one can only find on Sanibel,” says artist Marianne. “The abounding colors of our tropical island inspired the exceptional detail of “Fleur de L’ile.”

Marianne Ravenna moved to Sanibel in 1988. A professional landscape designer, she continued to work as an independent contractor while raising her two sons on the island.

She also got involved in a burgeoning field that combines edible design with education, working at area middle schools to develop after-school gardening programs.

Her lifelong love of drawing led her to start painting salad bowls and creating white-line block prints in her spare time.
